In 1932 Rene Lacoste was part of "The Musketeers" the french national tennis team which played in the Davis Cup against the United States. Renee's last game was crucial and he accepted a bet from one of his teammates that if he won he would give him a Crocodile leather cargo bag. Renee won and from that day he became known as "Le Crocodile" He fashioned a embroidery crocodile which he sewed on his favorite polo shirt and the rest as they say is history.
